I think 'neurodiverse' means having something organically - and not yet understood - deviating from the average, in the brain. It is not neurosis or psychosis or psychopathy. Nowadays, it tends to refer to autistic people or those on the Asperger's scale. Some high-functioning 'neurodiverse' people show a particular skill in one area, even though they may struggle in other areas. For example Professor Temple Grandin - an autistic person - has provided great insights into animal husbandry (cattle). Other Asperger's-scale people may be officially undiagnosed, although those close to them (family, colleagues) may realise that they are different from the average. Some very autistic people are very disabled - non-verbal, extremely difficult to communicate with, for example - but high-functioning Asperger's people may be highly gifted in one area - usually not entailing much communication with people.
