  1. Gravity: we can't live on Mars. We need gravity at one unit (Earth's gravity). Our bodies are adapted to Earth.

  2. Ozone may no longer be a worry (thanks to British scientists in the 1970s), but the greenhouse gas problem is worse than it has ever been. Melting of the permafrost is releasing methane, many times more harmful in greenhouse gas terms than carbon dioxide. The catastrophic climate events of recent times are signs, but the major worry is that we are destroying the Earth's thermostat which will put us into a runaway greenhouse effect, and render our planet uninhabitable by us. This is the only habitat we have *or will ever have*. Btw, James Lovelock's Gaia Hypothesis referred to the planet's self-regulating - without humans, primates, mammals or vertebrates if necessary. Nature cares not one iota for humans as a species.
