This varies per viral infectivity - the more infectious the virus, the greater the necessary percentage of the vaccinated population to achieve herd immunity. For example, measles requires 95 per cent of the population to be vaccinated for the remaining 5 per cent to be protected. Thus has now not been achieved in Britain, as more than 10 per cent of the population are now not vaccinated against measles, thus losing Britain's herd immunity for this virus
