Adding to what Francis said, there is an assumption on the part of men that women are automatically wholly responsible for contraception, and men don't need to take any responsibility. There is another assumption by some people that taking contraceptive precautions is easy for women. It is not. Contraceptive pills and intrauterine devices can cause severe side-effects. Diaphragms can be inconvenient and messy (btw they need easy access to copious amounts of clean water to use - not available in many countries). It seems to me that men - especially men who hate the idea of abortion - need to examine their own level of responsibility in this department, and to consider condoms and vasectomy more often than they do.
