It was Donald Trump who proposed leaving Afghanistan, mouthing the meaningless mantras, 'No more foreign wars', 'Bring the boys home', when no NATO personnel had been killed for 18 months, and things were gradually - if slowly, from a very low base - improving for civilians in Afghanistan. He then negotiated - negotiated! - with the Taliban!! Who does this? NATO needed to stay there for at least 70 years, and Afghanistan to be ruled as a colony jointly by a American and British administration.
