I'm hazy on Theology, but does 'committing the sin against The Holy Ghost' mean that you have disregarded your conscience so often that you have actually killed it, rendering it no longer operative? This means that you literally no longer recognise the difference between right and wrong. You therefore cannot go through the processes of confession and contrition, which necessarily precede reparation and repentance, hopefully leading to absolution. Thus, 'The sin against The Holy Ghost' is the only sin in Christianity that cannot be forgiven.
