  1. Antibodies do not destroy infected cells. Killer T-cells do that. Antibodies disable the virus in the bloodstream, and prevent it entering human cells and replicating. What vaccines do is to stimulate the production of a high level of antibodies in the bloodstream, ready to disable the virus if it enters (think bouncers at the door of a nightclub).
