  1. Why was the SARS-CoV-1 epidemic in the Far East in 2002-03 contained? Just a suggestion: (a) the virus had a very short incubation time, with the result that a person contracting the virus became noticeably ill very shortly afterwards, so they either retired to bed at home or were hospitalised, so they did not go round everywhere inadvertently giving it to lots of other people. (b) The Head of the WHO was Dr Gro Harlan Brundtland.

  2. Imperial College London is at this moment doing gain-of-function research on viruses, and probably also lots of other places. At least Portin Down is not in central London, if that is any comfort.

  3. I believe in Denmark it was the Danish herd of three million mink that they destroyed. They had a good export industry going with mink fur.

What could the Government have done in the first two months of 2020? 1 Cancelled the football match between Liverpool and Athletico Madrid, so that thousands of football fans would not have flown into Liverpool, as well as British fans. 2 Cancelled the Cheltenham horse-racing weekend which involved thousands of spectators. 3 Closed the borders in mid-January of 2020, instead of allowing everyone from everywhere to enter the country without quarantining them, including flights directly from Wuhan into Heathrow, up until mid-March 2020. 3 Where was the PPE? This is not hindsight from me. I thought all this at the time.
