Puberty occurs when it occurs, which is not at exactly the same age for everyone. You cannot switch it off and then at a later date switch it back on, in an adolescent. The process entails a complex coordination of hormonal secretions, developing certain parts of the body, and 'bringing on line' hitherto dormant parts of the brain. If this coordination is interrupted, it will not be able to be reinstated. Teenagers are famously 'difficult', questioning, lacking in empathy for the older generation, noticing things that they did not see before. 'The World is such a mess*. Everyone is starving! What have you been *doing for the past twenty years?' Pre-pubertal children are naive, accepting and compliant.
