  1. It's not only the physical development of confused children or distressed adolescents which is permanently sabotaged by cheating them out of their puberty. It is also their mental development - both cognitive and emotional. In the latter case, a pre-pubertal child is naive, uncritical and compliant. If such a child does not go through puberty - which is a psychologically uncomfortable or even painful time for many people - then they will probably remain mentally childlike.
