  1. It's called falling into 'the ad-hominem' fallacy, i.e. looking at the person making the argument - 'Do I like him/her?', 'Is what she says usually rubbish?' 'Yes.' 'Then this must be rubbish too.' This is a well-known fallacy. Of course, there are also undeclared financial vested interests . . .
