Crimes committed by people of foreign origin in Britain: the mutilation of the genitals of little girls. This costs the NHS a lot of money each year (not even mentioning the physical and psychological damage to the children). Saint Thomas's Hospital sees at least two hundred victims of this crime per annum, and I understand there are sixteen other specialised units up and down the country trying to lessen the agony of these children. This has been a specific criminal offence in Britain for thirty-five years. One person has been imprisoned for it. There is also the repeated cousin-cousin marriages of Muslims of Pakistani and Bangla Deshi origin in this country: these people constitute one and a half percent of the British population, but they contribute thirty-three percent of the severe genetic disorders of children that the NHS has to deal with per annum. These disorders often require a liver or kidney transplant to a child and/or lifelong complex medication with many expensive drugs, and social support sometimes entailing 24-hour care. Again, I have not even mentioned the suffering caused by this unthinking cultural practice.
