  2. He wasn't 'Turkish', any more than Queen Boudicca was 'English'. He was a Graeco-Roman from Capadoccia. The legend of St George - from the 14th century - tells of his slaying the dragon which was being appeased by the people of the country who were sacrificing their girls to it.
