  1. Sorry, Simon, you are wrong. If we don't stop 'the greenhouse effect' the Earth, the only habitat we have *or will ever have*, will become uninhabitable by humans. To say that we should do nothing because other countries don't do anything or not enough, is not a good argument. These other countries (India, etc) are realising the facts now. We must put our money where our mouth is or nobody will listen to us. We do not have to return to Medieval ways of doing things - (a) modern technology will make that unnecessary, and (b) that low level of technology would be unable to sustain our high level of population. World population has multiplied by three in my lifetime. This is truly unsustainable, and all problems would become much easier to solve if we returned to a 1955-level of human population. Believe me, this suggestion is orders of magnitude more offensive than anything connected with anthropogenic Global Warming!
