  1. I could not help noticing in the West End of London today that everone except me was non-British. I am talking about the other passengers in public transport, the people serving in shops, the other customers. I mean EVERYONE. I have never noticed this before. I heard no British accents of any description. Many of the languages I overheard I could not identify (I can't easily distinguish between Slavic languages or Chinese and other south-east Asian languages, or some African languages.) I heard broken or very heavily accented English being spoken.
