  1. Paul Embury: it's not Diversity, Equality, Inclusion. The 'E' stands for 'Equity' which is very different. To me, Equality means Equality of Opportunity and Equality before the Law. The Critical Social Justice Theorists prefer 'Equity' which they define as 'Equality of outcome'. This results, for example, in preventing candidates of Chinese heritage from gaining a place to read mathematics at Harvard which they had applied for and were qualified for, because there were too many of them more than fulfilling the qualifications requirements. So, instead of accepting say the top ten per cent of all applicants which would fill your quota of students for the first-year mathematics course, you take five per cent of those in order to keep the number of Chinese-heritage down to an 'equitable' level. You make up the numbers with candidates who achieved lower grades.
