  1. Nuclear power has never been economical. It has always been subsidised. The power stations are very expensive to build - in money and in concrete which is very expensive in CO2 to make. They have to be decommissioned after 25 years. They then have to be encased in a sarcophagus of concrete - more tens of thousands of tonnes of concrete. The nuclear waste rhen has to be kept weather-proof, theft-proof and terrorisr-proof for a number of years - 500 for the low-level waste, 150,000 for the high-level waste. This is very expensive and dangerous.
