  1. Just tighten your belt a bit. You can probably afford to lose a few pounds, anyway. Get some winter woollies. Get draught excluders. Wear layers. Get more bed-covers. Read some accounts of rationing during the Second World War.

  2. I was brought up without central heating. You get acclimatised to temperatures. I do not intend to put on my heating until January - January and February are usually colder than December in Britain.
