  1. Richard Dimbleby's despatch to the BBC from Belsen, which was liberated by the British army, was so graphic in its horror that, six weeks later, the BBC had still not broadcast it. Dimbleby told them that if they did not broadcast it, he would publish it himself, and would never work for the BBC again.
