A few years ago I heard a Professor of - I think - molecular genetics talking on radio (BBC Radio 4, in case you are wondering). She was Nigerian and working in the University of Abuja. She was researching sickle-cell disease, which people of West African origin are particularly vulnerable to. She said that she had thought that African-Americans might provide a large database of participants to study in this research, but she discovered that she had to rule them out as they are too White genetically - they are all at least 25 percent White, therefore their data would not apply.
