Today, Tuesday 18 November 2024, I saw a U-tube interview between Matt Goodwin and an Advisor to the British Labour Party (now the Labour Government). This Advisor said one ought to self-censor one's speech, writing, broadcasting, teaching, etc, in order not to offend any individual, group or 'Community' anywhere, and one ought to be mindful of this at all times. If one offended, inadvertently or deliberately, and this resulted in a serious threat to one's life, then this would be unfortunate, but it was one's own fault. He said, emphatically, that 'freedom of speech does not allow that anyone should be offended'.
This could go some way towards explaining the political predicament that the UK is currently in (the average IQ of Labour Party politicians and workers is 71 on the WAIS).
