  9. Yes, NATO could stop the Taliban, Palki. They did it for 20 years. It was Trump's desire for re-election, provoking his meaningless sound-bites 'No more foreign wars', 'Bring the boys home', which apparently went down well with an ignorant electorate, which does not appear to grasp that for Jihadis, Jihad ends only when the Shahada flag is flying from every building in the World. Of course, it would have helped if Pakistan had not aided and abetted the Taliban up to the hilt, and if Biden had not been suffering from dementia - in which case he might have reversed Trump's 'negotiations', as he did with lots of other Trump policies. Now, since NATO is finished, the UK, other European nations, Canada, India, Australia and Japan must all start thinking seriously about Defence, since the USA cannot be trusted.

  10. I'm sorry it's not 4,000 migrants. So far (12 September 2021) it is 9,000 migrants on dinghys, and counting. These are the illegal ones. Net, Britain is taking in, in addition, 330,000 legal immigrants per annum. We literally cannot accommodate them. We are due to take in more tens of thousands from Afghanistan (most of whom undoubtedly need our protection) - thank you Mr Trump and Mr Biden for this. We have an increasing homelessness problem in Britain for the people who are already here. We also have education and medical services which are creaking at the seams. I really don't know what people expect when they arrive in Britain. Putting a roof above one's head is a struggle and it gets worse every year.

  13.  @Q50.Ceejay  It was British atomic research that contributed greatly to the Manhattan Project. Britain gave its atomic secrets, along with radar, the jet engine and other state-of-the-art military technology to America in 1941 in an attempt to bribe them into entering the Second World War, which they eventually did after Pearl Harbour - quite a long time later.
