As a Scottish Unionist, not having lived in Scotland for several decades, I maintain that Scotland really does not have to do this - when you think of the inventions and culture that have originated in Scotland in the past few hundred years. There is absolutely no reason to feel inferior to anyone else in Britain or anywhere. Of course, if you don't appreciate David Hume, then perhaps this says something about you.

Btw, 1603 - Union of the Crowns (James VI and I united England and Wales and Scotland) James was James I of Great Britain. 1707 - Union of Parliaments, when Scotland had to be rescued financially by England when everyone in Scotland lost their shirt on the Darien Project - a brilliant idea two hundred years too early.
