  1. DSM - even in its fifth incarnation - is only used for psychiatric diagnosis in the USA. There are major objections to it. For example, it attempts to be atheoretical and consensual at the same time. This tends to encourage diagnostic drift and the proliferation of the Manual's Categories. It has difficulties with diagnosis of co-morbidities, and is dualistic. The rest of the World uses the International Classification of Diseases from the WHO (ICD10).
