This is the Government doing the sleight-of-hand thing again: (a) pretending that they are not cancelling the 'Freedom of Speech for Universities' Act - it is an actual ACT, having gone through ALL the stages in both Houses, Committee meetings, and also having received the Royal Assent. Bridget Phillipson just put a red pen through it before she had even hung up her coat - no argument, no debate. NOW they are doing a sham reinstatement of it - minus the teeth, so people in Universities will have no legal redress for 'cancellation', etc. It's like being handed a birthday present which is just an empty box. (b) now this sham 'enquiry proposal', which tells Local Authorities to mark their own homework, and does not look at the stage-four cancer of corruption which has rampaged through the Labour Party at every level, giving these crimes impunity.
