  1. FGM of any British person, performed anywhere in the World, has been a specific criminal offence UNDER STATUTE for 40 years in the UK. Saint Thomas's Hospital in London has a special unit seeing 200 patients per annum trying to alleviate the damage caused by this procedure having been inflicted on them. There are 16 specialist units throughout the country doing the same. We have had, in 40 years, one prosecution.
