Julia, please learn what the Qu'ran says - I think it is best to do this from an ex-Muslim - there are quite a few, although they have to keep a low profile for obvious reasons. This is because I understand that many translations of the Qu'ran are bowdlerised, especially for Western readers, and it needs to be read - very thoroughly - in the classical Arabic. This also applies to the Hadith, which have great influence on Sharia. I'm really not sure that you know exactly what it says - injunctions, not advice. Remembering that (a) the Qu'ran (a seventh-century AD text), being the Word of God, must be obeyed to the letter, and cannot be corrected, edited or re-contextualised to a different time or place. That would be blasphemy, punishable by death. (b) Islam does not separate Church and State. The religious injunctions ARE the law of the land. The aim and mission statement of 'the likes of' the chanting 'pro-Palestinian' demonstratiors and people waving a Shahada-bearing flag and shouting 'Jihad, jihad, jihad' in a London street, is for a World-wide Caliphate under Sharia - ISIS World-wide.
