I agree with Frank Furedi that this is a defensive reaction to the unrelenting disparagement, libelling and hatred that has been directed indiscriminately at 'white' people - by 'white' people as well as non-white people - over the past couple of decades, under the reign of Queer Theory in Education, politics, the police, the judiciary, the media and publishing, the Civil Service, and even Science (including medicine and STEM subjects).
