It is a mixture of Creation Myth - which all cultures have - history, myths and legends of the Jews, genealogies, legal and philosophical arguments, theological commandments, poetry. It was written in a pre-scientific age. The New Testament is the story of the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ, in the Gospels, and his actions and teachings. Then, the history of the years after, with Paul and others. No Christian claims that it is the direct word of God, dictated to an illiterate desert-dwelling camel-trader through the Archangel Gabriel.
