Also, sexist and misogynist talk about 'shame' and 'embarrassment' around menstruation reeks of religion - this sort of talk often perpetrated by men who want to find an excuse to deprive girls of their education - 'How could they not be too embarrassed/ashamed to go to school while they are menstruating?'.
