We don't know that we are the first technologically advanced civilisation. There could well be civilisations a million years ahead of us in scientific knowledge.
The Milky Way is quite a large Galaxy - not as large as our neighbour Andromeda. Our Galaxy is 100,000 light years in diameter. It contains hundreds of billions of stars. There are billions of Galaxies.
Carl, see the Phoenix Lights, the Virginia, Brazil incident, the Ruha, Zimbabwe incident. Listen to the flyers of the American Navy Air Arm. These people do not wear tinfoil on their heads. (See, for example, Lex Fridman's interview with Ryan Graves.) They are trained observers.
Why would intelligent aliens even use radio waves - they are probably telepathic.
In order to get to the stage of development that can move at 30 Mach without a sonic boom and then stop dead, you would have to survive for a long time. That means you would have to be highly developed and mature politically and psychologically. I would guess that such aliens would find us too interesting from an anthropology point of view to exterminate us. In any case, if they wanted to, they could do it in a heartbeat. So stop denying and atop worrying.😄
