Godfrey Bloom, in his Heretics interview with Ed Dutton, put forward the hypothesis that Farage's change in behaviour dates from 2010 and his light-plane air crash. Bloom said that before this time, Farage was approachable, flexible and open to other people's ideas. After that he became quite different.
This reminds me of David Starkey's hypothesis about Henry VIII, who had a serious jousting accident where he was knocked off his horse, seriously injured and was unconscious for a long time afterwards. Before the accident, Henry VIII was an artistic, athletic, likeable and approachable man. Afterwards he became an intolerant, cruel tyrant who instantly beheaded anyone who disagreed with him.
