  1. A couple of weeks ago, the Taliban in Afghanistan banned girls and women from training as nurses and midwives. Given that they are already forbidden to be examined or treated by male doctors, nurses or paramedics, one shudders to imagine what it must be like to be ill and in pain as a woman in Afghanistan. Oh, and last week, the Taliban banned windows. Check that one out if you don't believe me.
