Diane Abbott got into Cambridge from a Comprehensive school, in the days when there were no 'reach-out' programmes or special considerations for 'outsiders'. I remember, about fifteen to twenty years ago, often listening to a Radio 4 programme called 'In Committee', which was a recording of a previous week's Parliamentary Committee. Quite often, Diane Abbott chaired one of these. She was an excellent chairperson in every way, never allowing repetitive arguments or fallacies, correcting errors immediately and keeping the subject on track. I feel that she has experienced trauma in her personal life and this has affected her badly. She needed to retire some years ago, and it is a great pity that she has not.
