In October 2020, before any Corona virus vaccines had been announced, and when the country was having lockdowns imposed on it, I asked my MP whether the illegal immigrants coming across the Channel in small boats were being tested for Covid and if the officials dealing with them were wearing PPE. This was not a trick question - I seriously wanted to know if this was the case. After two further emails and two and a half months, I received a reply lecturing me on the iniquity of referring to anyone as an 'illegal immigrant'. Everyone is an asylum seeker fleeing an evil dictatorship or dreadful war situation and it is our duty to be kind to them. I am still waiting for an answer to my question.
