Edgaz Moniz actually was given a Nobel Prize for his genius invention of psychosurgery, which mutilated the brains of tens of thousands of people in the USA, UK and other countries in the 1940s to 1970s - to no avail. He was shot and paralysed by an ex-patient/ victim, but happily survived to see his Nobel Prize rescinded - the only person, so far, to have had this done.
