  2. Going to work: I heard all about this, although it was before my time - you went to work as usual (factory or office) even if you were saying, 'Oh, I was bombed out last night'. That just meant that your house had been destroyed while you slept and you were lucky to be alive. It wasn't an excuse not to turn up to work.
