  2. I'm not at all sure that Hatun Tash preaches against Islam. What she does is to preach in favour of Christianity. Of course, this is totally incensing to many people, and justifies violence towards the preacher, in their mind. Whether the Metropolitan Police have now clarified in their own minds about whom I am paying them to protect - perpetrator of violence or victim - is another thing I am not at all sure about. A couple of months ago, I pointed out to a police officer at Speaker's Corner a man waving a poster saying, 'Shariah for UK'. 'Shouldn't that man be arrested?', I asked. 'He is calling for sedition.' The officer blanched, frowned, wriggled a bit, and shifted his feet. 'I'll make enquiries', he said.
