People have used VR in SL sonce around 2016, probably as early as 2012. VR, though, is still mostly a gimmick. People thought it was going to be the future since the 1990's, but that fad faded, just as the current one likely will soon enough. Besides, computer graphics, let alone the VR experience still has a long way to come. Plus, it's a niche market, much like lazer tag.

Popularity is such a BS way of considering something as thriving or not. Longevity wins out, seeing as all the other popular alternatives have died out and SL remains.

Mr Sunglasses - Lumiya did a good job with an Android version. Plus, LL has source code that the third party viewers use. Anyone that's good at programming could give a try at making a phone/tablet version. You can then request to have it listed as an official alternative

FB doesn't have billions in it. There are probably about that many with free Facebook pages, but probably at best 3% of them on Meta.
