Depends on what teacher you're talking about. The ones teaching them to put certain things up their privates get protected and given teacher of the year awards.

@Adam - A lot of the things that were starting to change 20 years ago are starting to show their spoiled rotten fruit.

@Jack Riddle - they're not supposed to have phones out in class. If a student takes their phone out in class, common procedure is to confiscate until the end of class. This has been true for all sorts of items that kids are not supposed to have out during class time. School policies that students and their parents sign state this as the case. Due process does come into play in that no school official has the right to search a student's back pack, unless probable cause. This is usually the job of security, commonly a police officer assigned to the school.
2
@David Major - due process only makes sense if the student puts their phone back in their backpack. At that moment, you could make a case for illegal search and seizure. Phone out for cheating on a test is akin to having camera out at a theater that explicitly tells you not to. In both cases, the options would be to let the person put away device, confiscate until end of movie or class if they continue to do so, and/or kick the person out of movie theater or classroom.

@davidmajor1508 - where'd you get your law degree, assuming you even have one?

@Mark M. - corrupt teacher's union, yes. However, unions in general are just an extension of the branch of bureaucracy. These same unions that claim to protect teachers will shove them under the bus if they are of the wrong politics. So many good Christian teachers have been washed out of their careers, not just from secular school admins, but also because the union won't defend them. Typical 'rules for thee, not for me' attitude of all institutions run by Democrats.
1
@NinerOut - It's not just the union, but also school admins, the district and state superintendents, all the way up to the governors in liberal states. The whole school system is corrupt.
1
@David Major - your full of crap, but have fun talking in circles to yourself.
1
@MarkJoseph81 - Yes, unions, but also tenure. While I think it fair for union representation to make sure someone's not wrongfully fired, the advocacy of things beyond representation is an abuse. Even moreso when good teachers actually trying to teach academics and don't follow the union agenda get sent to the guillotine.

Forrest rangers almost have more authority than a cop or teacher. They can at least make the choice whether to shoot the wild animal with a tranquilizer or a bullet.

@Sunset Animator Modern schooling is a joke. I almost went into it, doing substitute teaching in the early to mid 2000's. Teachers were complaining about the whole W. Bush era NCLB program. But at least there were academic standards then. Now, it's all about the LGBTQ+ and CRT political activism, rather than preparing kids for how to get a job, maybe join a trade apprenticeship, or otherwise prepare for a career after high school, if not college degree, or other career certifications that would actually make a HS certificate more useful than saying you might be competent enough for unskilled labor (assuming the kid wasn't passed just to get them out of the school system). At this point, let the schools burn. We need a complete overhaul on education, and may have to return to home schooling. Because the school institution and the politics around it do not have the children's best interests in mind.

@Bezalel Jaeger 308 - he may be having dementia flashes back to the 70's. His policies are as bad, if not worse than Carter's.

@west side Animals generally kill mostly for food or territory. Quasi domesticated animals that are partly feral due to poor discipline of their owners kill for fun.
1
@west side - both. Human beings are a species of animal, though also considered sentient because of critical thinking skills, like seeing metaphors, or seeing greater meaning in life beyond basic necessities like food and water.

I understand on the child behavior being bad, yet the grooming going on in schools these days? Some teachers deserve mace in the face at the least. Other teachers need to be fired and put in pedo prison.
