  3. It's still so amazing to me how much effort we put into killing each other. There had to be some points in every war when they just said "what the hell are we doing?". I believe it was Christmas of 1917 when the Germans and the Americans (British?) had an impromptu ceasefire. Played soccer, exchanged cigarettes. Sang from the trenches. That pissed off the high command on both sides, who were sitting in their warm quarters with hot food.
