From what I read Europe was far from being clean back in that time

Considering there was no cure for STDs in that era, taking them out of service for 3 months was a useless endeavor imo

The VC infiltrated SOG Hqs in Saigon which compromised almost every mission but the US was too stupid to deal with it at the expense of highly trained motivated troops

hope your having a great day last time I checked there isn’t a lot of water in the desert. And I believe the left hand is considered unclean because of wiping their rear end. Went to school with Muslims, their body odor was horrendous. FYI this is a conversation not a confrontation so if you are looking for that, go elsewhere. BtW I was a Muslim for a short time while in the army.

Damn funny 👍👍👍

The army shipped out SP packets to the field which included among other things , tobacco, toothpaste, toothbrushes, candy and wait for it - lots of soap. We always had a bar of soap thanks to those morale boxes. We took “ showers “ by lowering helmets into wells. Lost a lot of helmets in those wells when the straps broke. But we stayed fairly clean. Used to swim in the irrigation canals until I saw a python that was at least 20 ft long.

@seanmonaghan5005 that kid wasn’t old enough to understand the politics, etc of war. He did what he was told
7
@Zeldarw104 never see those types looting, burning or smash and grabbing. Nice try though
7
PC demands that
7
hope your having a great day no water to wash their hands? I doubt it
6
Where does this guy get the fact that only draftees were in the field. Every airborne trooper ( all volunteer) was in the jungle and usually for weeks at a time.
6
There was a story about a Dutch woman put into the comfort group. She had sex with thousands of Japanese- horribly sad. She ended up marrying a minister after the war. I just can’t imagine her pain.
5
@theaggrotravelersbucketlis5470 it isn’t a history they want to remember.
5
I can assure you that to those of us in the jungle considered it a “ war”
5
@seanmonaghan5005 we agree for the most part. Innocent civilians are usually affected in disproportionate numbers unfortunately
4
@DrStoneDog we have a military expert among us I see
4
The US defense industry loved the “ war” 😩
4
I got dysentery when I was in the jungle. Shit my brains out. Had it when I was wounded the first time. Try being in a hospital bed and having to crap. Not easy
4
hope your having a great day I use toilet paper and wash my hands and can therefore not consider either one “ unclean “.
4
@terywetherlow7970 gotta admit the whole bidet thing intrigues me. Can’t imagine how it can clean well if one has a constipated poop. And everyone talks about water shortages and bidets use water in addition to toilets ( still needed ) . Not against them as many use them happily
4
Some were, not all
4
There were areas in Vietnam that were “ free fire zones” where anyone within was considered enemy if not suspect. Civilians many times didn’t get that message and paid the price unfortunately
4
@BEACH.LUVER101 👍👌
4
Claim asthma even after playing football and being a lifeguard and then serve as a senator from Delaware. Move overseas to avoid the draft and then become governor of Arkansas afterwards. There - completed your “ unbiased “ post.
4
Very true and those butchers should have been punished first
4
Or after being a lifeguard and football player as a high school kid claim you have asthma. Or actively dodge the draft by going overseas and then years later become governor of Arkansas. Completed your hate fest for you.
3
@DrStoneDog were you there , I was . Hard to use West Point battle tactics in a guerrilla war. The guys on the ground figured that out quickly and adapted, the Generals never did.
3
Lots of “ smash and grab” videos of the ancient Vandals stealing stuff though. Oops wrong period 😂
3
hope your having a great day pretty sure bidets aren’t that common in the Mideast
3
@emoguy666hotmailc no hate whatsoever. Just stating that humanity around the world had / has periods of unsanitary lifestyles
3
Same anywhere in the works today, especially the US, Britain,Germany and any Scandinavian country.
3
Was he in both units at the same time ? Can’t be a green beret 82nd airborne soldier at the same time
3
@WolfinWolvesClothing713 we dealt with bamboo vipers more than any snake while I was there. No one was ever bit. My squad leader was a veritable snake nut and would routinely bring me snakes. One day during a minor firefight he brought me a cobra. He was something else. But he was awesome in the tunnels we went into. ( small like me helped )
3
@williamdonnelly224 and yet when Santa Ana was captured he was allowed to go free and live his life. Go figure
3
This is without a doubt the biggest bullshit article about Vietnam I have ever listened to.
3
Interesting as from the many videos of that era Japanese types were all over Hawaii during the war. Hardly interned. Some may have been interned based on their associations but not even close to all.
3
@grantkruse1812 kind of off the topic but if that makes your anarchy wishlist complete then have at it.
3
The enemy had to deal with all these as well especially the NVA who were in many cases city boys. You can bet the Ho Chi Minh trail took its toll on the enemy
2
The Tet offensive was a debacle for the north not the US. The US decimated the enemy
2
@jimc4839 interesting take on the issue. In some things however I may have to agree on an individual basis for each thing invented
2
Off the subject but I have read where native Americans in the US were amazed at how filthy early white settlers were
2
@p00kietuts true
1
Trained in trench warfare ? Not likely. But the tunnels they dug over there was an example of taking trench warfare to an extreme 😂
1
@DrStoneDog for the guys on the ground they adapted to stay alive, the higher ups didn’t have to
1
If anything you got some of your grief off your chest as it helps to relate to others . 🙏🏻🙏🏻
1
@TobyW360 and after all that they still invented more stuff than others.
1
@AboutMyIssue01 they also taught math abc science but ironically after that forgot it themselves
1
@norte8318 the moors brought science and math to southern Europe if I remember correctly. But not sure how you think they were betrayed .
1
@punksoab it is a filthy time then.
1
@Firefly13114 there are numerous articles, shows, etc which talk about life in Europe over hundreds of years and how it evolved ( the human condition). The Thames river used to be one big sewage ditch in the Middle Ages before people realized the sickness and death which such practices created. No place on earth was left out of this learning curve I would imagine.
1
@MCC_Concrete since I wasn’t around hundreds of years ago ,I’ll guess I’ll go with “ read “
1
@obligatoryusername7239 👍
1
@BrethrenDean war is evil. No such thing as a nice war. The US tried that in Afghanistan and it didn’t turn out well
1
Thanks. Most don’t know that.
1
@howardj602 that tomahawk is more a design of a white man ( metal) vs a stone club the natives used before the white men came. Look at Europe as they had very similar weapons that weren’t copied from any native American
1
@howardj602 you just verified my comment
1
@howardj602 your last sentence makes perfect sense as I can’t imagine any group not wanting to take advantage of any new positive invention etc
1
Bamboo vipers were not that deadly compared to other venomous snakes there. I saw many different venomous snakes while there but never a king cobra. But was always concerned that while walking thru elephant grass I would walk into one at face level. Bothered me more than the enemy
1
@zhinka1 they forget that part. It seems iron arrow heads worked better than flint and steel knives worked better than bone
1
I had asiatic ringworm which was disgusting. Luckily the medicine cleared that up.
1
Not to worry most who watch this will forget it tomorrow 😂
1
My thought exactly
