There are LEGAL issues pertaining to this; the Fire Chief cannot determine the safety of the food or supplies even though the goodwill is appreciated. What's more; private citizens are putting themselves at risk when flying in zones that are restricted to ONLY military aircraft; civilian aircraft cannot be allowed in these no fly zones.

@barbaraclarke9299 This is the EXACT time for RULES AND REGULATIONS; you cannot have a bunch of people flying " willy nilly " all over the place without setting up GRIDS and a PLANNED search and DISTRIBUTION of supplies. You obviously don't know squat; there are 400 bridges destroyed with roads collapsed into rivers and others covered by mud from landslides. Mustering points need to be established to ensure distribution as well as communication services in order to reach those that are in distress to include people that have medical needs; the need to ascertain who gets priority; is it the elderly ? Pregnant women ? The disabled ? People suffering from diabetes or arthritis ? Children ? And who are able to shelter in place. Does any of this makes sense ? Or should we continue with your stupidity; ill informed and lack of plan of attack ? I can't stand liberals like you.........

@curtjennings72 Oh, I read the comments. It's VERY easy to be a Monday morning QB. There are logistical challenges that are BEYOND imagination especially when 400 bridges have been destroyed; roads washed into the river and the rest covered in tons of mud. Mustering points need to be established and literally temporary hospitals have to be built; most of the people on this thread have no idea that this event is way worse than Katrina and almost none don't know what goes into the planning of helping the stranded people while at the same time NOT putting first responders in harms way.
