Sometimes, not always. I have a slew of mental (& physical) illnesses, nurture was not what you'd consider that word to mean in my life. 1 parent, poverty, and she didn't even know how to raise me, although she tried her best.
Yet so far, I'm doing ok keeping a kill count at zero. You gotta have some evil nature to do this, no matter what nurture was like, imo.
But I agree with your last sentence 100%
And it's not someday, that happens every day.. sadly. People start caring often when it's much too late, even when those in need ask for help. This is especially true for mentally ill.

Thank you!
Yes, many killers have traumas in the past. But so do many more people who never would kill, maim, torture, and can never reach desensitization point. Those things simply aren't options, no matter how much our family or life hurt us.
Maybe seeing a ton of senseless genocide (Bosnian war, 90s) made me this way, but I still think we get born evil, or not... and nurture can repair that, to a degree or completely it depends. But sometimes it can't. Especially in people who think expressing your feelings is not "macho" or that "it's gonna look like they're crazy for seeing a therapist/psychiatrist" (stupid old fashioned pride, or embarrassment, from ages ago.. last to this day. I have an ex friend who needs this sort of help but refuses to take the 1st step of admitting that to himself. Not killer, just needs professional help).
