The school IS "the experience" that these idiot employers need! And they know it! Hell, even a highschool diploma/GED is WAY MORE THAN ENOUGH for an entry-level job! Especially since highschool doesn't have shit to do with the job at hand! Why TF they ask for it is beyond me!
I went to college but not for a long period of time. I signed up to go KNOWING I would UTTERLY HATE it! Low & behold that's exactly what happened!
I've ALWAYS DESPISED school! Elementary, highschool, the GED and college! I'm glad I only signed up for a short amount of time and not longer because I would've been burnt out and I would've flunked! I'm glad I didn't bite off more than I could chew! I liked work-study. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less! Hated the classes, hated the entire experience!
I never really had the aptitude for school, nor should I have to! You CAN'T FORCE the brain, nor the body to like something it doesn't! You CAN'T FORCE the brain to understand something it doesn't! I went to school for ONE semester, ON A GRANT. I tested it out/gave it try and VERY QUICKLY realized it wasn't for me! I couldn't drop out because my grant wouldn't cover the cost if I did! After my semester was over, I was PERMANENTLY done! I'm glad I didn't waste my time longer than what I did, trying to get a piece of paper that I can't take to my grave with me! A piece of paper that will deem me "overqualified" if I apply for a job and then pay me a low-wage, plus put me in debt!

I've been saying this since I was 16 years old. Its psychotic to expect anyone to have "prior experience" for an ENTRY level job! Operative word here is *ENTRY!*
ENTRY level is LITERALLY when you are ENTERING the workforce FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME! An ENTRY level job is where you START! Its where you get experience!
Edit:
Even if you have a GED, $15/hr isn't enough. Quite frankly, REQUIRING a GED/highschool diploma for an ENTRY level job shouldn't be a thing! Like, WTF does a highschool diploma/GED have to do with cashiering, bussing tables, reception work, janitorial work, retail work, truck driving, bellboy, etc.????
Cover letters are ANTIQUATED! NO ONE should ever ask for a cover letter! I shouldn't have to BEG you to give me a chance! I shouldn't have to thank you when you didn't do shit for me! You didn't hire me, WTF am I giving you thanks for?!?! Your job is to review applications and resumes! That's WTF you get PAID to do! I'm supposed to give thanks to you for you doing your job?!?! That's like a parent thinking their kid "owes" them something for "giving them life!" Be so ffr! 😒
Also, ANY job that requires you to do ROUNDS of interviews, DON'T take that job! Its NOT worth it! 🙅
No job should be treating you like a med student that's doing a residency in a hospital where they have to do multiple ROUNDS of whatever med students do rounds of!
Anything beyond ONE interview is EXTREMELY TOO MUCH! It doesn't matter how many supervisors, managers, etc. there is! ONE manager is ENOUGH! Why TF does someone need to interview with MULTIPLE people?!?! That's sickening and disrespectful to the job-seeker! You're playing with the job-seeker, dangling a carrot in their face, WASTING & DISRESPECTING their time and energy! That's NEVER okay and it NEVER will be! ESPECIALLY NOT for an ENTRY level, fresh-outta-highschool job!
And NEVER move for a job! UNLESS you're in a DV situation or you know you'll be there for a long time, okay, yes. Absolutely move away. However, if you're NOT in a dangerous situation with a psychotic abuser, controller, narcissist, gaslighter, manipulator, etc., DON'T move. There was this girl who moved because she got a new job in a city/state she wasn't originally from. After she moved, she got fired 3 months later! She packed up her entire life just to get fired 90 days later! That's a HUGE fear I have!

Him:
"YoU dOn't DeSeRvE tO mAkE $20/hr If YoU wOrK fAsT foOd! ThAt's A sTArTeR jOb FoR tEEnaGeRs! yOu CaN gEt A dIfFeReNt JoB!" 🤡
Where? 🤔
"Get a different job", WHERE?!
And who TF is he to put an age limit on an entry-level job?! 🤔
The VAST MAJORITY of people that work fast food and retail are in their LATE 20s to earlier 40s, possibly 50s!
What about the people that CAN'T get a job anywhere else due to limited skills, possibly limited education, maybe they're not hireable for MOST places! There's people that aren't hireable ANYWHERE! What about people with disabilities?!?! What about people that can't afford to move?!?! What about people that might have kids with special needs and the city, state, town they live in is the ONLY one that offers the care in question their kid(s) may need?!?! What about the people that have bills and rent and that McDonald's job is the ONLY income they have?!?! What about the people that ENJOY working at McDonald's, Starbucks, Target, Walmart, etc!?!?
I DESPISE people who talk down on those who work an innocent job and then wants to dictate how much they should get paid! Why TF shouldn't they make a LIVABLE WAGE just like YOU?!
If they "don't deserve" to make $20/hr, you don't have a right to go there and receive a service from them! If those people weren't working there, you wouldn't be able to shop for groceries, clothes, buy that cup of coffee you like, etc! Like...how how TF do people NOT see that the VERY people they're degrading are the VERY people they're receiving a service from on a regular basis?! And if he has kids (*fingers crossed he has doesn't!*), why the hell wouldn't he want his kids to have an income that they could live off of?!
I despise people like him! What he's doing is ageism and ablism! He has NO right to dictate where someone "should" or "shouldn't" work based off the person's age and company/franchise in question!.

@Ang-iz5hv
Actually, I'm correct. I'm not incorrect. If a person wanted to be doctor for example, "the experience" would be the schooling, not on-the-job training. That's just an example. Yes, there are on-the-job trainings like cashiering, bussing tables, stocking shelves, dish washer, etc. Elementary school doesn't teach that. Highschool doesn't teach that. College is *not* basic education. Basic education was already achieved in elementary school. That's where you learn how to do basic reading and math. Highschool is just unnecessarily harder and college is even harder than that. That's why I mentioned that highschool is way more education than employers need for an entry-level, low-wage paying job, especially since highschool has *nothing* to do with the job at hand.
Why do you need a highschool diploma/GED to wash dishes, bus tables, work retail, stocking shelves, cashiering, etc? Especially since, as we both agreed upon, is something you're supposed to learn on-the-job???? It'll never make sense!
If employers are going to require these transcripts, documents, etc., they need to explain how the hell it correlates with the job in question! What does a college degree, highschool diploma/GED have to do with the entry-level job at hand???? And why? Why is it necessary to have???? Why do you need a college degree to be a waitress, bartender, cashier, Uber/Lyft driver, delivery boy/girl, hostess, receptionist, etc.???? Same thing with trade school. I'm not against trade school but there's no diplomacy or degree or certification to work in a grocery store, department store, etc.

@LHSHarmon
Dude, even YOU said "80% of jobs only need ONE interview!" 🤦
Anything after ONE is too much!
Edit:
And yes, I've been to/in more than enough hiring processes to know that ONE interview ONLY is LITERALLY ALL they need!
The fact that you want to make job-seekers jump through unnecessary hoops and have them do a second interview, shows you were interested after the FIRST! 🤦
So you might as well hire them!
These low-life, unqualified, unprofessional, lazy, hypocritical, disrespectful, discriminatory employers KNOW from the jump if they want you or not!
If employers want "the best of the best", they're NEVER going to find it! There's no such thing as the "perfect" employee! If that's the case, they can get up off their ABLE-BODIED behinds and run their OWN business WITHOUT the labor of anyone else!
A job-seeker is either going to have a basic education with no skills, skills with no basic education and if you get lucky enough to find someone with BOTH skills AND a basic education, they're "over qualified!"

Agreed! 💯
But the college degrees is only part of the problem. Its highschools that are also an issue!
When I was school, teachers told us that if we didn't go to college, we'd end up flipping burgers for the rest of our lives! Little do they know, you make more money "flipping burgers." 🤷
I remember being told by multiple people that if you finish highschool or finish getting your GED, you'd be good to go. I was told you could get an "entry-level" job such as cashiering, working retail, working fast food, receptionist jobs, etc. and that never happened for me! Also keep in mind, I went to college and I have disabilities. I tried college but I didn't want to be in debt. I wanted to go to trade school but I didn't know what trade I wanted to do. I just know what I CAN'T do and WON'T do!
Both highschool AND college play a role! As well as employers!
If you have the skills but not the education, its a problem!
If you have the education but not the skills, it's a problem!
If you have the education + the skills minus the experience, its a problem!
If you don't have ANY experience, its a problem! Experience and skills go hand & hand! When you gain experience, skills naturally come with that too! If no one is willing to hire an inexperienced person, that person will NEVER have experience, thus not gaining any skills either!

@parsimoniouslypolished86
Well, the person needs the job FIRST in order to GAIN the skills and experience. You can't know a person's character without giving them a chance to display that! As far as education, having a degree doesn't make you "deserving" of a job vs. someone without one, depending on what kind of job that is. If an entry-level, low-wage job that you're supposed to be taught on-the-job, you shouldn't need a degree for that. If it's something like cardiology then yes, you need a degree.
As far as race and gender, race shouldn't play a role but its almost like a double edge sword. On one side, its discrimination to deny someone a job due to their race/gender. I'm not even sure why the question is asked on applications, to be honest. On the other hand, there's people that feel like they're entitled to a job because they're in the minority.
