  86.  @susanwest4137  Her denials, deflections, demeanour are all in itself a HUGE red flag, she should have been escorted and observed to ensure her own safety. To give her morphine without a physical exam is one for the experts which no doubt the trial will cover. By her refusing examination is again a huge red flag. She was a patient in their care they have authority to ask questions and observe dynamics. The doctor should have asked the mother to leave on grounds of patient confidentiality unless it's proven she is mentally challenged and needs a guardian at all times. Just because she has a above average IQ means nothing. Anyone with a brain can see the mother was domineering and controlling. The mother made things 1000 times worse and obviously stopped her from admitting the truth. It's the staff's responsibility to read between the lines, I feel for them I really do, but in the eyes of medical duty of care they failed their patient in a negligent way. If staff insisted on a visual for her own safety none of this would have happened and if staff had observed her they would have known that delivery was imminent. I've worked with medical professionals that have been accused/ investigated/ prosecuted for much less serious incidents. Any defense attorney will say negligence, do you really think the hospital bears no responsibility ? She needs legal punishment and must face her actions. The hospital/ staff were that baby's last defense. All those around her for 9 months and not one person called her out with authority. She needs to face reality and I hope many lessons will be learnt from all involved in this avoidable tragedy. The baby was failed by her and many others.
