It's heresy because you purposely took away some of the passage to fit your agenda. Those are the words of the greatest prophet and the son of God himself. Speak according to the word only. Don't add or take away anything. Quote it as you see it written in the book.   22.  @OmegaTou  This isn't "presentism". Ancient Egypt, under Hebrew rule, ended slavery. This was around 1500 BC. Achaemenid Empire also ended slavery. This idea that slavery was moral prior to the British Empire is both anachronistic and misinformed. Slavery was abolished over a thousand years before the Arabs, Portuguese, and British Empires even existed.

The universal abolition of slavery was a legal edict in at least two ancient empires before Europeans could even read or write.   35.  @OmegaTou  It's not disingenuous. The INTERNATIONAL slave trade was largely built by Europeans and Arabs. Slavery was mostly tribal before that. And this idea that it was universal doesn't mean it's ok. The Egyptian Empire and the Achaemenid Empire both ended slavery. I'm not saying Britain is wrong though and I'm grateful for what they did but they partly did contribute to the problem. We must admit this truth. I will say the British Empire did more good than bad though. So, I'd say it's just, not really admirable. Again, you don't get a pat on the head for doing what you're supposed to do.
