  1. It's hard to say what was the "best" time to be alive as far as Western Civilization is concerned. Following the introduction of Christianity from the Middle East, the West has had many eras of increased freedom, prosperity, and technological innovation. It's usually cyclical. I loved the 90s but I think eras such as the Renaissance, Belle Epoque, and Annees Folles served as the blueprints for the 90s in terms of globalization, innovation, peace, the arts, and upward mobility. Each boom period seems to build off the ashes of the previous ones.
