@markhankins3023 A vigilant, sober-minded warfighter isn't going to be taken out by an IED. One moment, you're dancing around to Barbie Girl like a fool, the next, you got stars and stripes draped over your tomb.

That explains why we lost nearly 5,000 personnel in Iraq.

@evan3458 I'm just an OCS candidate. But ad hominem questions aside, it's a fact we'd loose less men if we were more focused, disciplined, and vigilante. We lost two SEALs in the Gulf of Aden recently because a guy slipped. SLIPPED!!! We're becoming too distracted and complacent.

@markhankins3023 That just proves my point. As I said, a vigilant, sober-minded warfighter isn't going to be taken out by an IED. If a vigilante warfighter sees a car tire in the middle of the road or disturbed gravel or a suspicious-looking vehicle nearby, his instincts will immediately kick in and he's going to realize something's not right. You can't do that if you're deluded into thinking you've won the battle already, so might as well act a fool. War is serious. You have to pay attention and protect yourself at all times. If this lipgloss-wearing, voguing sailor in this Tiktok keeps fooling around, he could end up at the bottom of the sea just like those SEALs in Yemen. The fact that I even have to say this is mind-blowing.

@were-owlinwisconsin4441 It's not just dancing. It's acting like a fool in general. It's not paying attention and remaining vigilante that made them vulnerable to IEDs.

@markhankins3023 There are videos of soldiers and marines riding in HUMVEEs spotting IEDs in the road and avoiding them. They were even able to go back afterwards with a bomb squad and dispose of them safely. The DoD even handed out brochures and held short seminars on how to spot IEDs later in the war. That ad hominem argument doesn't stand up to the evidence. So much loss of life can be avoided by simply paying attention. In OCS, they teach us situational awareness strategies to keep our platoon as safe as possible, so we lose as few men as possible. That's all I want to do. Thank you for your service, by the way. Though I disagree with you, I still respect you and honor your sacrifice.
