Do we even need this form of soft power anymore? Army Psychological Operations/Civil Affairs seem to be able to do at a tactical level what VOA did at a strategic level, except better and more efficiently. We have Operation Ernest Voice and Operation Glowing Symphony on social media as well so broadcasting might be obsolete technologically...?🤔

Is it really an attack on soft power as a whole or just on certain programs? Social media influence is soft power too and this administration seems to be investing heavily in it. For example, Trump's accounts on X and Truth Social use AI video to conduct both political and strategic influence operations.

@kenmare16 I think that might be an oversimplification. VOA doesn't just report on life in America. I once saw a VOA story reporting on a "gay choir" in South Africa. They seemed to give implicit support of the group. There are many other stories like that.
